The Field Camp
The Field Camp boasts luxury and comforts but has a yesteryear feel to it and is very much a Hemmingway experience. Its character and ambience is akin to that of the early explorer camps of Africa. These camps are set up exclusively for safari, following an event like the wildebeest migration from point to point and taken down once this has come to a close. If offers the services of a dedicated staffing complement for the duration of a guests stay (private guide, chef, camp host, camp staff) and the activities can be arranged on a whim and can go on for as long as the guests prefer. The accommodation is mostly in meru style safari tents or canvas tents, spacious with solid metal framed beds, and offering the trimmings of a luxurious lodge room. The field camp has no electricity throughout, though it features oil and solar lanterns. Also, to note, cell phone coverage is limited as these camps are usually set up in remote locations, offering a real but comfortable bush experience. Guests ideally should be walking fit and children 14years and older are welcome at field camps.
