South Luangwa National Park
Often referred to as the “Crowded Valley” due to volumes of wildlife in the South Luangwa NP, with the majority of game concentrated along the Luangwa River. Bird life around the river is phenomenal with hundreds of large birds such as storks, egrets, herons and pelicans. Bee-eaters, swallows, eagles and so many more make for a very colourful and busy day ticking off your check list. If you are coming for the birds, then make sure you come from November through to April. Best way to visit South Luangwa is a scheduled flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe (with Proflight) and then transfer by road from Mfuwe through to the reserve. Of course you can drive from Lusaka – the road is tarred and of a good standard but the journey will be long. South Luangwa is home to Savannah, wetland and forest animals.
