There are more than 20 fresh water lakes across Rwanda, the largest being Lake Kivu, located in the West of the country bordering the DRC. Lake Kivu is breathtakingly beautiful and something completely different on offer. It is made up of estuaries, bays, peninsulas and islands. Although a landlocked country, Lake Kivu offers a unique beach holiday. With its sandy beaches and surrounding lush green hills, this makes for a perfect chilling getaway. Ideal for relaxing, sunbathing, or just simply reading a book. You can even find yourself a hammock tucked away and order a cocktail or two.
Hotels in the region offer night entertainment like any beach resort would. One could chose for a lazy beach holiday or a more active one and choose from water sports, fishing and sailing or kayaking.
